1. فُؤادٌ كَما شاء الهَوى يَتَحَرَّقُ

    وَدَمْعٌ كَما شَاءَ البُكا يَتَدَفَّقُ

  2. وَمَأْسُورَةِ الأَجفانِ عَنْ سِنَةِ الكَرى

    وَلكِنَّها في حَلْبَةِ الدَّمْعِ تُطْلَقُ

    Yet shackled eyelids from showing their age

    But in circles of tears they were set free

  3. وَصَبٍّ غَدا مِثْلَ الغَرِيقِ كَما تَرى

    بِما وَجَدَتْهُ كَفُّهُ يَتَعَلَّقُ

    A young man who became, as you see, drowned
