كأَنَّ دَمي يومَ الفِراقِ سَرَوْا بِهِ
وَقَدْ سفكُوهُ بِاحتِثَاثِ الرَّكائِبِ
My companions, when we parted, took my blood away
Spilling it while loading the mounts to depart
أَظُنُّهُمُ لَوْ فَتَّشُوا في رِحالِهِمْ
إِذاً وَجَدوا آثارَهُ في الحَقائِبِ
If they had searched their saddlebags, I imagine
They would have found its traces in their traveling packs
إِذا أَنا دافَعْتُ الخُطُوبَ بِذِكْرِهِمْ
نَسيتُ الذي بيني وبينَ النَّوائِبِ
When I dispel my worries by thoughts of them
I forget what lies between me and misfortune
