مضى الَّذي أَودَعَ قلبي الجَوى

فَدَمْعَتي مِنْ حَسْرَتي قاطِرَهْ

He who ignited the burning embers within my heart is gone

So my tears of regret flow steadily

واصَلَني ثمَّ بَدا هَجْرُهُ

تِلْكَ لَعَمرِي كَرَّةٌ خاسِرَهْ

He brought me together then his separation manifested

By my life that was a most regrettable loss

واعَدَني في الحَشْرِ أَنْ نَلْتَقي

فَقَدْ تَشَوَّقْتُ إِلى الآخِرَهْ

He promised at the final gathering we would reunite

So I yearn for the hereafter
