وَحَديثٍ كأَنَّهُ
أَوْبَةٌ مِنْ مُسافِرِ
A talk that's like a glad new moon
To some lone watcher of the night,
كانَ أَحلى مِنَ الرُّقا
دِ عَلى جَفْنِ ساهِرِ
More sweet than dew to parched sand dunes
That veil the dawn's elusive light.
بِتُّ أَلْهُو بِطيبهِ
في رِياضٍ زَواهِرِ
The scented herbs in gardens fair
Bring joy to me while others sleep.
بَيْنَ ساقٍ وسامِرٍ
ومُغَنٍّ وزامِرِ
A drink, a girl with scented hair
A lute to play and song to steep.
