وَسَاقٍ حَكَى البَدْر وَالغُصْن لِي

فَذَا بِالتَّمامِ وَذَا بِالقَوامْ

The full moon and the branch narrated to me,

Of this in full and that in elegance.

سَقَاني بِكأْسَيْنِ في مَجْلِسٍ

بِكأسِ المُدامِ وَكأسِ الغَرامْ

He gave me two cups in a sitting,

The cup of wine and the cup of passion.

بَطِيءِ الإِفَاقَةِ مِثْلِي وَقَدْ

شَرِبْتُ المُدَامَيْنِ شُرْبَ اغْتِنامْ

Slow to recover like me, as I had

Drunk the two wines in seizing the moment.
