1. ذُرى شجرٍ للطَّيْرِ فيهِ تَشاجُرُ

    كأَنَّ صُنُوفَ النَّوْرِ فيهِ جَواهِرُ

    Branches of trees for the birds to quarrel in

    As if gems of light were scattered about in it

  2. كأَنَّ القَمارِي والبَلابِلَ بَيْنَنَا

    قِيانٌ وأَوراقُ الغُصُونِ سَتائِرُ

    As if bulbuls and nightingales were between us

    Singing, and leaves on branches were curtains

  3. شَرِبْنا على ذاكَ التَّرَنُّمِ قَهْوَةً

    كأَنَّ عَلى حَافَاتِها الدُّرَّ دَائِرُ

    We drank coffee to that singing

    As if pearls circled its edges
