هُمُ عَرَّضوا لِلْبَيْنِ رُوحي فَأَعْرَضُوا

فَوَدَّعْتُ رُوحي حينَ وَدَّعْتُهُمْ مَعَا

They displayed my soul to separation, so they turned away

So I bade farewell to my soul when I bade them farewell together

فَلَو رُدَّ فِيَّ الرُّوحُ بَعْدَ فِراقِهِمْ

لَما وَجَدَتْ رُوحي لَها فِيَّ مَوْضِعَا

If my soul returned to me after parting from them

It would not find in me a place for itself
