أَكْثَرْتَ لَوْمِي بِغَيْرِ تَنْفيسِ
مَا أَنْتَ إِلا رَسُولُ إِبْلِيسِ
You blamed me excessively without relief
You are but a messenger of Iblis
جَفني مِنَ الدَّمعِ موسِرٌ ومِن السَّل
وَةِ قَلبي مِنَ المَفاليسِ
A wealthy man dried my tears, and emptied
My heart of tranquility and solace
مَنْ لامَني في الحَبيبِ كانَ كَمَنْ
يَضْرِبُ في مَسْجِدٍ بِناقُوسِ
He who blames me for loving was like one who
Rings bells in a mosque, lost and confused
