بِاللَهِ يا ذا الجمالِ غَرَّكَ ما

أُظْهِرُهُ لِلْوُشاةِ من جَلَدي

By Allah, O you of beauty, you are deceived by what

I show to the slanderers of my patience.

نارُ اشتياقٍ زِنادُها كَبِدي

لَوْلا دُموعي لأَحْرَقَتْ جَسَدي

The fire of longing, its flint is my liver,

if not for my tears, it would have burned my body.

تطلبُ ثأْري وقاتلي أَسَدٌ

طلّ دَمٌ يُستثارُ مِنْ أَسَدِ

You seek vengeance from me, and my killer is a lion.

My blood is shed, to be avenged from a lion.
