1. لَهُ ضاحِكٌ بَرْقُهُ خَاطِفٌ

    عُقُولَ الرِّجالِ إِذا مَا ابْتَسَمْ

    His laughing flashes capture men's minds, when he deigns to smile.

    When his pearl appears, I say to him: We acknowledge the wisdom of its Maker.

  2. أَقولُ لَهُ إِذْ بَدَا دُرُّهُ

    شَهِدْنا لِصَانِعِهِ بِالحِكَمْ

    I see the pearl pierced by stringers, yet they pierce it not - how then is it strung?

  3. أَرى الدُّرَّ يَثْقُبُهُ النَّاظِمُونَ

    وَما ثَقَبُوا ذَا فَكَيْفَ انْتَظَمْ
