1. يا مَن أَرانا بالفراقِ مَهالكا

    لمّا غدونَ بهِ الحدوج دَوالكا

    O you who showed us perdition through separation

    When the saddles set out with it as luggage

  2. يا ريم رامة يا غزالاً لَم يَكُن

    منّا عقولٌ يوم ودّع ناركا

    O Reem, a charming gazelle, there has never been

    Amongst us on the day your fire bid farewell, any minds

  3. هَذا فراقك قَد عَرفنا حالهُ

    فَمَتى يكونُ لنا وجود لِقائكا

    This, your separation, we have come to know its state

    So when will we have the existence of meeting you

  4. فاِنزَع إِلى توديعنا من قبل ما

    أَن تفقد الأرواحُ خلفَ رِكابكا

    So turn to bid us farewell before

    The souls lose consciousness behind your riding beasts

  5. وَاِلق القناعَ لعلَّ سرّ لحاظها

    يَرعى رياضاً مِن رياضِ جمالكا

    And remove the veil, perhaps the secret of its glance

    Would pasture meadows from the meadows of your beauty

  6. وَإِذا تطاولتِ المسافة والنوى

    ما بينَ داري في المزارِ وداركا

    And if the distance becomes long between

    My house at the cemetery and your house

  7. وَاِذكر مُخاطبتي إِليك وما جرى

    منّي ومنك بها غداةَ وَداعكا

    And remember my addressing you and what transpired

    Between me and you the morning of your farewell

  8. وَاِسأل إِذا ما مرّتِ الرُكبان عن

    حالي فإنّي سائلٌ عَن حالكا

    And ask, when the traveling bands pass by

    About my state, for I ask about your state

  9. بِسهامِ أعينك المراض أليّة

    وَبوردك الخدّيّ أو تفّاحكا

    With the arrows of your hurting eyes

    And your rosy cheeked apple

  10. إنّ الحياةَ تلذّ لي إلّا إذا

    ما كنت أنتَ تجودُ لي بوصالكا

    Life is only sweet for me when

    You grace me with your company

  11. وَأَرى صدودكَ لي سعيراً مثل ما

    إنّي أَرى الفردوسَ عند رضائكا

    And I see your coldness to me like a blaze

    Just as I see Paradise in your pleasure

  12. ماذا يضرّك لو وصلتَ متيّماً

    يُمسي ويُصبح في ودادكَ هالكا

    What would harm you if you joined a lover

    Who wakes and sleeps absorbed in passion for you?

  13. صبٌّ لأديانِ الصبابةِ مخلصٌ

    أَضحى بوجهكَ في الهَوى مُتباركا

    My devotion is to the religions of youth madness

    I have prospered through your face in passion, blessed

  14. وَسواجدٌ في المجهلاتِ رواكعٌ

    يظللنَ إن جدّ المسير رواتكا

    And in ignorance I prostrate, bowing down

    I shade them if the journey becomes difficult, your riding animals

  15. خوط طواهنَّ السرى لمّا طوي

    نَ منَ العجاجِ صحاصحاً ودكادكا

    They carried secrets the elite kept confidential when

    From Al Ajaj they loaded the bundles and pushed them

  16. لم يتّجهن بِما حملنَ من الثنا

    إلّا الفتى الملك المتوّج مالكا

    They did not aim with what they carried of glory

    Except for the outstanding boy, the crowned king

  17. ملكٌ تفرّد بالفخارِ وَلَم يكن

    أحدٌ لهُ في المكرُماتِ مشاركا

    A king unique in pride and there has not been

    Anyone sharing his generous traits

  18. ورقى منازلَ في الفخارِ وعقّبت

    شهب المنازلِ نثرة أو شابكا

    And he climbed ranks in pride and trailing

    Were the ranks’ falling stars, scattered or interwoven

  19. يَهوى بنات المكرماتِ وغيرهُ

    يَهوى بُثينة والرباب وَعاتكا

    He loves the daughters of glorious deeds, but others

    Love Buthaina, Rabab and your sister

  20. سَلك الرشادَ إِلى المحامدِ فاِشتَفى

    مِن حيثُ كانَ إِلى المحامدِ سالكا

    He walked the path of righteousness to praise

    Quenching his thirst along the way to praise

  21. وَمَتى يكُن للحمدِ نضوٌ لم يكن

    إلّا بساحتهِ مُقيماً باركا

    And whenever there was freshness to praise, it was only

    In his courtyard, settled, blessing it

  22. صانَ الممالكَ واِرتَقى فعلا على

    أهل الممالك عزّةً وممالكا

    He protected the kingdoms and indeed transcended

    The people of kingdoms, in might and kingdoms

  23. فخر لقومٍ في الأنامِ وتلدة

    أَضحى لَها السلطان مالكُ مالكا

    Pride of a people amongst mankind and a descendant

    The sultan came to possess, possessing kingdoms

  24. بعثَ الجيادَ إِلى العِدا وأقام في

    أرضِ العداةِ وقائعاً ومعاركا

    He sent the steeds to battle and remained in

    The enemies’ land, with battles and contests

  25. وَدهاهمُ بكتائبٍ وقت الضُحى

    أَضحى بِها في النقعِ أسود حالكا

    And at dawn he destroyed them with brigades

    At dawn in the meadows, destroyed, vanquished

  26. حتّى اِحتشت أرضُ البغاةِ ضراغماً

    وَصَوارماً ولهاذماً وسنابكا

    Until the land of the rebels was filled with coats of mail

    And swords and piercing blades and lances

  27. بكتائبٍ فيها أسودٌ أُلبِست

    يومَ الكفاحِ مَغافراً وترائكا

    With brigades in which were lions dressed

    On the day of struggle, in armor and neck guards

  28. وَإِليكهنّ منَ القريضِ قوافياً

    مُتجانساتٍ لم يكنَّ ركائكا

    And to you from poetry, rhyming verse

    Harmonized, with no like substitutes

  29. هنَّ العرائسُ قَد رففنَ حبايباً

    لك نزَّعاً ولما سواكَ فواركا

    They are the brides who have picked beloveds

    For you, plucking them without any others to choose
