1. خلّ المتيّم في نهج الغواياتِ

    يجرّ في الحبِّ أذيال البطالاتِ

    The infatuated one wandered the alleys of sin

    Dragging the skirts of futilities in love

  2. لا تلحهِ في الهوى والحبِّ إنّ له

    قلباً تألّم من كثر الملاماتِ

    Do not blame him for love and passion, for he has

    A heart wounded by many reproaches

  3. وَاِعذره في اللومِ إن صمّت مسامعهُ

    عَن سمعِ ما أنت مبدٍ من ملاماتِ

    And excuse him from blame if he shuts his ears

    From hearing the reproaches you began reciting

  4. صبّ صبا في صبابات الّتي عذبت

    وَهكذا الصبّ يستحلي الصباباتِ

    He lived his youth intoxicated with the youths that tormented him

    Thus the living gets accustomed to living beings

  5. أضحى نفاس غداة الحبّ مفترداً

    فيها وما ملّ من طول المقاساتِ

    The morning after love he wakes up alone

    In it and is not tired of the length of distances

  6. يا مُخبري عن فريقٍ لست أطمع أن

    أَحظى لديهم بتسهيل الزياراتِ

    O you who inform me about a band, I do not hope

    To enjoy facilitated visits with them

  7. كرّر حديثك لي عنهم فذكرهُم

    أَشهى إِلى القلبِ من عصر الشباباتِ

    Repeat your talk about them to me, for remembering them

    Is more delightful to the heart than the nectar of youth

  8. وَيا حماماتِ بانات الرميثة لا

    عدمتكنّ نشيد من حماماتِ

    And o doves of Rumaythah appearing at night

    May your singing never cease, o doves

  9. وَما بكنّ من الوجدِ الّذي ظهرت

    من حرّهِ في الحشا نار الكآباتِ

    What burning passion appeared to you at night

    That set afire the embers of sorrows in the thickets

  10. لَقد شعلتنّ منّي القلب إذ سمعت

    أُذناي وقت الضحى ترجيع أصواتِ

    You ignited my heart when my ears heard

    At dawn the echoes of your voices

  11. ما كنت أحسب أَنّ القلب يصدعه

    نوح الحمام بأصوات شجيّاتِ

    I did not expect that the doves' weeping

    Would shatter the heart with their woeful voices

  12. وَيا لئيلات وصل العامرية ما

    أحلاك بالوصل فينا من لئيلاتِ

    And o nights of union in Al-Aamiriyah

    How beautiful your union is to us, o nights

  13. إذ للزمانِ غضاراتٌ ونحن به

    نُمسي ونصبح في دست المسرّاتِ

    As time has deceptions, and we in it

    Spend the night and morn under auspices

  14. أيّام تسمح لي هندٌ بما طلبت

    نفسي وتمنحني صفو المودّاتِ

    Days that allow me, o Hind, what I desired for my soul

    And grant me the essence of affection

  15. أُمسي وأُصبح خذلانا هنالك مح

    بوب الشمائلِ مسموع الأماراتِ

    I spend the night and morn disappointed there, deprived

    Of the beloved traits, though famous for tokens

  16. لا تلقني قطّ فيما بيننا أبداً

    في ذاكَ إلّا بأخلاقٍ لطيفاتِ

    Never prompt between us anything but

    With good manners, subtle ways

  17. غيداء راجحة الأردافِ بهكنة

    ظمأى الحشا ذات أعطاف نديّاتِ

    Swaying in her wide hips, thirsty at night

    With compliant sides and soft traits

  18. تُبدي لنا المزحَ إذلالاً وتسفر عن

    محاسنٍ قمريّاتٍ بديهاتِ

    She jokes with us humbly and reveals

    Lovely moon-like traits openly

  19. خوطية القدّ مكسال يرنّحُها

    سكرُ التغنّج لا سكرُ المداماتِ

    The lazy one with ankles that bend

    From the intoxication of coquetry, not of wine

  20. تُصمي القلوبَ بألحاظٍ إِذا نَظرت

    مفتّرات مريضات صحيحاتِ

    She captivates hearts with glances, when she looks

    Coy, sickly, healthy

  21. لَهفي على رشفاتٍ من مُقبّلها

    في الرشفِ مثل جنا الماذي شهيّاتِ

    My craving for sips from her kissing

    Like the Father of Grace, delicious and delightful

  22. لو بعتها الروح منّي والتليد معاً

    بقبلةٍ لم أخف كونَ الخساراتِ

    If I sold it my soul and embrace together

    For a kiss, I would not mind the losses

  23. يا فوز عود الآراك الغضّ حين جرى

    على النواجذِ منها والثنيّاتِ

    O joy of the tender fresh boughs of the arar tree

    Flowing over the soft cheeks and curves

  24. يا حبّها حين قامت للوداع ضحىً

    وَالعيسُ للبينِ شدّت بالحنيّاتِ

    O love for her when she got up at dawn to bid farewell

    And separation tightened its grip with sorrow

  25. قامَت ولاذت بأعطافٍ مودّعة

    حيناً وقد صافحتني بالبناناتِ

    She got up and sought haven in the shoulders bidding farewell

    At times after she shook my hand with her fingers

  26. حتّى تداعت وَقد أَذرت مدامعها

    بِأدمع واكفاتٍ مستهلّاتِ

    Until she wavered and her tears flowed

    With copious lamenting tears

  27. وَذراعات الفلا فتل مرافقها

    كم قد قطعنا بها عرض المسافاتِ

    And the arms of separation severed her companion

    How much did we conquer with them the expanse of distances

  28. حتّى قدمت بنا بعد الكلال على

    متوّجٍ مالكٍ عقد الرياساتِ

    Until it took us, after weariness, to

    A crowned sovereign, holding the necklaces of leadership

  29. عَلى المليك فلاح خير من بُعثت

    له منَ الشعر أنواع الصناعاتِ

    To the most glorious and proud king, protector of

    Islam and the religion, indeed best of leaders

  30. الأفخر الأمجد البسط البنان حمى ال

    إسلام والدين بل كفو الزعاماتِ

    His pens encompass the region wherever

    They flowed with justice in the kingdom, to the subjects

  31. تحيطُ أقلامه الإقليم حيث جرت

    بالعدلِ في الملك منه للرعيّاتِ

    He who spent what his palm contained from bounty

    Is forgiving to those who committed sins

  32. بذّال ما قَد حوت كفاه من سبد

    غفّار ما قد جنت أهل الجناياتِ

    Guardian of the sanctuary of the kingdom, bearer of ordeals

    Hoped for plains, extractor

  33. حامي حمى الملك حمّال المغارم مص

    مود المرابع مأمول المساحاتِ

    Of the purest spirit from the horsemen

    He runs and is braver than the lion of the lair, and if

  34. وَالطاعنُ الطعنة النجلاء منتزعاً

    منَ الفوارسِ أَنفاس الحشاشاتِ

    The lions sought a lion in battles

    If he shakes his fox in the fray of valor

  35. أَجرى وأشجع من أسد العرين وإن

    طلب الأسود أسود في الحراباتِ

    He waters the lions of glory a cup of purpose

    You see kings in the kingdom submissive to him

  36. إن هزّ في حومةِ الهيجاء ثعلبهُ

    سَقى ليوث السرى كأس المنيّاتِ

    Receiving him with humility and tribute

    He almost knows and learns from his mind what

  37. تَرى الملوكَ في الملك خاضعةً

    تلقاهُ بالذلّ منها والمداراتِ

    The nights conceal of hidden mysteries

    O pillar of the religion, O light of kingdoms, O

  38. يَكادُ من ذهنه يدري ويعلم ما

    تُخفي لياليه من سرّ الخفيّاتِ

    Sun of glories, O rain of the righteous

    How you aspired, O treasure of bounties, to the

  39. يا صمتةَ الدين يا نورَ الممالك يا

    شمس المفاخر يا غيث البريّاتِ

    Lofty heights of glories, high and magnificent

    And how much rain of generosity poured from you

  40. كم قد توقّلت يا خدنَ المكارم في

    شوامخ للمعالي مشمخرّاتِ

    From open-handed, generous, honorable hands

    You resembled the wise Akeem in composure and you

  41. وَكم همى منك غيث الجود مُنسكباً

    عَن أنملٍ حاتميّات سجيّاتِ

    Resembled the chaste Jassaas in protecting probity

    No king disobeys you in his kingdoms

  42. أشبهت أكيم في الحلم الرزين وقد

    أَشبهت جسّاس بكرٍ في الحميّاتِ

    Except he stumbles and harvests the fruits of regret

    None who seeks refuge from you in the world, even if

  43. ما إِن عصاكَ مليكٌ في ممالكه

    إِلّا اِرعوى وجنى ثمر النداماتِ

    He climbed the steps of the heavens

    You remain at the highest rank, singularly

  44. لا ملجأ عنك في الدنيا لملتجئٍ

    ولو رقى في معاريج السماواتِ

    Praised, occurring to minds with majesty

  45. لا زلتَ في رتبة العليا ومنفرداً

    بالحمد تخطر في برد الجلالاتِ
