1. زُر منزلاً قاضك البرحا وَأولاكا

    مِن غداةِ الوحي بالبينِ حيّاكا

    Visit the home of your judge in the morning and greet him

    From the morning of revelation with separation between you

  2. وَاِسكُب وإيّاك لا تبخل بِدَمعك عن

    أطلالِ عاتكةٍ إيّاك إيّاكا

    And pour out your tears, be not miserly with your tears on

    The ruins of the dwelled, beware, beware

  3. وَبُح بحبّك واِذكر من سعادك ما

    لقيتهُ في الهَوى واِغزل بأَسماكا

    And confess your love and remember the happiness

    You found in passion, and spin tales of your idols

  4. فَالحبُّ لا حبّ حتّى تبوح به

    وَتعلنَ القولَ في تصريحِ شَكواكا

    For love is no love until you confess it

    And proclaim the words clearly in your complaints

  5. وَالعيشُ أعذبهُ ما كان مازجهُ

    طعم الهَوى فاِختبر ما كانَ مِن ذاكا

    And life is sweetest when it is mixed with

    The taste of passion, so experience what that was

  6. ونعجة مِن نعاجِ الإنسِ ما نَقضَت

    مِن لحظِها لأسودِ الغابِ أشراكا

    And a ewe of the ewes of mankind that did not keep

    Her glances from the lions of the forest their snares

  7. طالبتها الوصلَ بعدَ الهجرِ فاِمتنَعت

    عليَّ مِن وصلها بخلاً وَإِمساكا

    I asked her for union after separation but she refused

    To unite with me, miserly and holding back

  8. وَقَد أَغار عليها في السواك إذا

    أجرت على رشفاتِ الثغرِ مِسواكا

    And he was jealous over her when she

    Moved the tooth stick over the edges of her mouth

  9. يا لائِمي في الهوى العذريِّ مهلك إن

    لام ملوم بِما قد كانَ يغشاكا

    Oh you who blame me for passionate love, stop, if

    The blamed is not blamed for what overwhelms him

  10. يا لائِمي في الهوى العذريِّ مهلك في

    لومِ اِمرئٍ ليسَ ما يَغشاهُ يَغشاكا

    Oh you who blame me for passionate love, stop blaming

    A man who is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms you

  11. لو كنت قاسمتهُ ما ذاق من غصصٍ

    للوجدِ كانَ الّذي أبكاهُ أَبكاكا

    If you shared it you would not have tasted the sorrows

    Of passion that made you weep what made me weep

  12. وَكانَ في الحكمِ مِن دينِ الصبابة ما

    أبلاهُ مِن طائلِ الأشواقِ أبكاكا

    And there would have been in the law of youth what

    Afflicted him from the plight of passions that made you weep

  13. هل أَنتَ تبدي له من كيدهِ كيداً

    أَم مِن سويداهُ تقضيهِ سُويداكا

    Are you scheming against him a scheme

    Or fulfilling against him your fulfillment?

  14. وهَل من الأثل والدكداك تعوّضه

    بالأثلِ أثلاً وبالدكداك دكداكا

    And is there requital and tit for tat you recompense him

    With requital and tit for tat?

  15. يا راكبَ العرمس الحرف الجلالة صل

    مسراك في حندسِ الظلماءِ مغداكا

    Oh rider of the noble letter, pray your journey

    In the darkness of night your return

  16. وَإِن أتيتَ إِلى دستِ المظفّر لث

    ثم واِمسَحن بِالثرى منه محيّاكا

    And if you come to Dast Al-Muthaffer, then rub

    With earth from it three times, greeting it

  17. ملكٌ بهِ اِفتخرت بكر العلا وعلت

    مِن حيث حازها عقداً وأملاكا

    A king who the virgin dawn glories in

    And from where it attained a necklace and possessions

  18. صمصام يشجب بل مصباح غَيهبها

    وبدرها المرتقي في الشهب أفلاكا

    An oil lamp that lights up, no a shining lamp

    And its rising moon in the stars its orbits

  19. ليثٌ يظلّ غداة الحرب تعلنه

    إن هزّه لدماءِ الأسدِ سفّاكا

    A lion that on the morning of war they announce

    If roused to the blood of lions a pourer

  20. شاد تعقّب في ميدانِ جلبتهِ

    أكابراً قصّرت عنهُ وأملاكا

    He sought after in the battle arena of his dragging

    Great ones that fell short of him and possessions

  21. يا مَن يفوتُ نجومَ الجوِّ حيثُ رقا ال

    عليا لحوقاً بِمسعاهُ وإِدراكا

    Oh you who the stars of the air miss where they climbed

    High unable to attain his ambition and reach

  22. ما نالَ ما نلتهُ سيف بن ذي يزنٍ

    وَلا رقى في العُلا حسّانُ مَرقاكا

    The sword of Sayf ibn Dhi Yazan did not attain what you attained

    Nor did Hassaan ibn Thabit ascend in glory like you

  23. وَهاك ما نتج الذهن الّذي سكبت

    فيهِ السكينة من فكرٍ وما حاكا

    And here is what the mind poured out

    That you poured tranquility into of thought and what it spun

  24. فَلا له لابس يوماً سواك ولا

    يرى كفؤاً والناس إلّاكا

    So it has no peer ever but you

    And sees no equal while people but you

  25. إِن كانَ أَغنى قديماً بالندى هرم

    زهيرَه فلقد أغنيت موساكا

    If the ruins of Hirama were rich with dew in the past

    You made rich your Musa
