1. عرِّج بذاتِ الكورِ والنسعينِ

    لِمعالم دَرَست من العلمينِ

    Roam around the palace of curves and flexibility

    To the landmarks I studied in both sciences

  2. دمنٌ عَفاها كلّ أوطف مسبل

    مِن نوّ نجم السعد والفرعينِ

    An abode whose every gentle breeze blew with bounty

    From the star of happiness and its branches

  3. وَلَقد عهدتُ بها أميمةَ والهوى

    منّي ومنها مشرق العصرينِ

    And indeed I made a pact with it, being infatuated,

    As were my soul and its soul from the dawn of time

  4. أَهوى وتهوى والمراقبُ غافلٌ

    وَالدهرُ عنّا هاجع الجفنينِ

    I yearn and it longs, while the watchman sleeps

    And time turns away from us, resting its eyelids

  5. وَهوايَ فيما أتّبعه من الهوى

    منها هنالك غير مختلفينِ

    And my love for what I pursue of that love

    Is from it, and does not differ from it

  6. بيضاءُ واضحة تلوح كأنّها

    مِن حسنِ بهجتها قضيب لجينِ

    A radiant white beauty that glows as if

    Her charm makes her a soft branch

  7. لَعسا المراشفِ كالزلال رضابُها

    غرثا الحشا مهضومة الكشحينِ

    Mayhap her pillows are like fresh brooks whose banks

    Are dunes with fluttering locks

  8. وَمتى رَنت سبتِ العقولَ كأنّما

    في لَحظها سحرٌ من الملكينِ

    And whenever her glance enchants minds, it is as if

    There is magic in her eyes from the Divine

  9. ما أبصرت عينايَ شمساً غيرها

    مِن قبل ذا تمشي على قدمينِ

    My eyes have not seen a sun other than it

    Walking on two feet from the first time

  10. شمسٌ إِذا ما قابلت شمسَ الضُحى

    أبصرتَ في وقتِ الضحى شمسينِ

    A sun - when facing the sun of dawn

    You see two suns at the time of dawn

  11. وَتَرى بياض الخدّ يقنى حمرةً

    فتراهُ يبدي رائق الصفتينِ

    And you see the whiteness of her cheek leading the redness

    So you find it exhibits the best of both qualities

  12. تفترُّ عَن سمطينِ منتظمينِ

    منفردينِ منكتمين في شفتينِ

    Parted from two braided and concealed lips

    In her two lips that seduce minds

  13. وتظنُّ نَهديها فويق الصدر من

    لبّاتها حقّين من عاجينِ

    And you'd think her breasts beneath her clothes were

    Two apples of ivory, perfectly round

  14. خُذ مِن مَقالي ما أتاك فإنّما

    صدقُ المقالِ يلوح كالقمرينِ

    Take from my words what has come to you, for

    The truth of speech shines like two moons

  15. وَاِلبس منَ اللبس المحاك مريّشاً

    ومنَ التُقى فنميس في بردينِ

    And wear from attire an embroidered coat

    And from piety, a fine Yemini cloak

  16. واِحذر يقال فتى مليّ شحّ في

    ما نال شحّة ربّةِ النحيينِ

    And beware being called a stingy youth

    Who attained the stinginess of the carper

  17. أَهوى الفتى ألقاهُ هينا غير ما

    هين وليس الطبعُ ليس بلينِ

    The lad fell in love and was brought down low

    Though his nature is not weak at all

  18. وَأحبُّ مَن يَصبو إِلى العلياء كم

    يَصبو جميل إلى وصالِ بثينِ

    And I love those who incline to the lofty ones, as

    A beauty inclines to joining with her lover

  19. حمّلت ثقلاً للهمومِ ودون ما

    حمّلته ما يثقل الثقلينِ

    I have burdened myself with worries, beyond what

    Would burden even two loaded camels

  20. ولربِّ شان لي حسودٌ مبغضٌ

    أَضحى يمازج صدقه بالمينِ

    And how many people envy and hate me

    Who have become mingling their truth with lies

  21. يَغتابُني في غيبتي ويبشّ لي

    إِن شاهَدت عيناهُ رؤية عينِ

    They backbite me in my absence, and smile

    Openly, if their eyes see me

  22. مهلاً حَسودي فالّذي حاولته

    لَم تحظَ منه سوى العنا والأينِ

    Wait, you enviers - that which you have attempted

    Has not benefited you, except shame and regret

  23. ما ضرّني قولُ الحسودِ إذا صفا

    في الدينِ ما بين الإله وبيني

    The words of the envious do not harm me, if

    My religion is pure between God and I

  24. أَنا والتعفّف في اِجتماع قطّ لم

    يصدع لنا شملٌ بحادث بينِ

    I and chastity, whenever gathered, no

    Rift has broken us apart, by any cause

  25. يا معسر لا تقعدنَّ على الجفا

    فَالعسر حين قبل وقت الحينِ

    O you who struggle, do not sit in destitution

    For ease comes after the time of hardship

  26. كَم في اِكتِساب الرزق متّكلا على

    ما قَد يرى وهدي إلى النجدينِ

    How often depending on what may appear

    And being guided to the two noble patrons

  27. وَسلِ الهمام الأمجد السلطان

    سلطان بن مالك مالك الحقوينِ

    Ask the most glorious Sultan, the Sultan

    Ibn Malik, Master of the two Rightful Kingdoms

  28. الأفخر الملك الّذي هو لم يزل

    عمر المواهب باسط الكفّينِ

    The most proud king who has always been

    One who gives life to gifts and is open-handed

  29. أيّامه نعمٌ لِمَن يرجوه لا

    أياّمه أيّام ذو اليومينِ

    His days are bounty for those hoping - not

    His days like the days of He of the Two Days

  30. ماضي العزيمةِ صارمٌ في كفّه

    عضب المضارب صارم الحدّينِ

    Firm in resolve, fierce in his grasp

    Possessor of the cutting blade and sword

  31. سيفٌ بسيفٍ قَد يصول بعزمهِ

    سيفٌ فها هو ثالث السيفينِ

    A sword, that with his resolve may charge wildly

    A sword - behold, he is the third Sword

  32. يتجشّم الحربَ الزبونَ كأنّه

    في الحربِ حيدرةٌ غداة حنينِ

    He undertakes war and foes as if

    In war, he is Khidhr on the morrow of Honain

  33. اِنظر إِليهِ ترى الجلالة والبها

    واِنعم برؤية ماجد الحسبينِ

    Look at him - you will see majesty and splendor

    And enjoy seeing the glorious nobleman

  34. واِسجد لغرّةِ وجههِ في دستهِ

    شكراً لمن قد كوّن الكونينِ

    And prostrate to his radiant face - for in his hand

    Is gratitude to Him who created the two worlds

  35. سعد يلوحُ بيوم سعدٍ فاِغتبط

    يا شاهدَ السعدين بالسعدينِ

    Good fortune shines on a day of good fortune so rejoice

    O you who sees the two fortunes with the two fortunes

  36. وَإِليك يا خدن المكارم حلّةً

    حسناء لم تُنسج على تيرينِ

    And to you, O pillar of bounties, a garment

    Beautiful, not woven on a Tiran loom

  37. وَالمجدُ يحسنُ بالثَنا حسن الملا

    والبردُ بالتطريز والعلمينِ

    And glory suits praise, like fine attire suits

    Embroidery and knowledge

  38. أشبهتَ بالعليا أباكَ سجيّةً

    كالعينِ مُشبهة لتلك العينِ

    You have taken after your father in character

    As the eye resembles that eye

  39. فوحقّ مَن أوحى وخصّ بوحيه

    خيرَ العبادِ وسيّد الحرمينِ

    So by the right of Him who inspired and singled out

    The best of servants and the lord of the two sanctuaries

  40. إنّي وأَنت لنعم خدني حلّة

    برّين في الأخلاق متّفقينِ

    Me and you, my noble pillar, are a garment

    Righteous in morals, in agreement

  41. كم قاصد غيرى سواك ولم يؤب

    مِن عندهِ إلّا بخفّ حنينِ

    How many others I have visited, but no

    One sends me back save with the cry of longing
