ذَريني أَمُت وَالشَملُ لَم يَتَشَعَّبِ

وَلا تَبعُدي أَفديكِ بِالأُمِّ وَالأَبِ

Let me die while the family is still together, not yet split apart

And do not distance yourself from me, I implore you by mother and father

سَقى اللَهُ لَيلاً ضَمَّنا بَعدَ فُرقَةٍ

وَأَدنى فُؤاداً مِن فُؤادٍ مُعَذَّبِ

Allah watered a night where we were together after a separation

And brought two hearts closer, one of them anguished

فَبِتنا جَميعاً لَو تُراقُ زُجاجَةٌ

مِنَ الراحِ فيما بَينَنا لَم تَسَرَّبِ

So we spent the night together, if a glass of comfort

Was passed between us, it would not seep through

فَيالَيتَ أَنَّ اللَيلَ أَطبَقَ مُظلِماً

وَأَنَّ نُجومَ الشَرقِ لَم تَتَغَرَّبِ

If only the night would grow darker

And the stars of dawn would not wander away
