كَم نَتَجافى عَن الوِصالِ فَلا

نَسلَمُ مِن حاسِديكَ لا سَلِموا

How long we shun meeting! Yet never

Are we safe from your enviers though they be peaceful

لَو شِئتِ حَقَّقتِ مِن ظُنونِهِمُ

لا تُؤثِميهِم فَطالَما أَثِموا

Had you willed, their suspicions you'd have made true.

Blame them not, long since have they sinned.
