1. يا أَبا أَحمَدَ لا يُن

    جي مِنَ الشِعرِ الفِرارُ

    O Abu Ahmad, poetry does not flee

    For the Abbasids, it is a refuge and dignity

  2. لِبَني العَبّاسِ أَحلا

    مٌ عِظامٌ وَوَقارُ

    And for them in war there is initiative, opinion and composure

    And for them tongues that elucidate as blades elucidate

  3. وَلَهُم في الحَربِ إِقدا

    مٌ وَرَأيٌ وَاِصطِبارُ

    And faces like the stars of night that guide the lost

    And a breeze like the breeze of a meadow, whose generosity the clouds rained down

  4. وَلَهُم أَلسِنَةٌ تَب

    ري كَما تَبري الشِفارُ

    And for your sympathy away from glory there are companions and friends

    If you are one of them without a doubt

  5. وَوُجوهٌ كَنُجومِ ال

    لَيلِ تَهدي مَن يَحارُ

    Then you are the freshness of rosewood and the purity of water

    And the foam of wine and its fermentation

  6. وَنَسيمٌ كَنَسيمِ ال

    رَوضِ جادَتهُ القِطارُ

  7. وَلِعِطفَيكَ عَنِ المَج

    دِ شِماسٌ وَاِزوِرارُ

  8. إِن تَكُن مِنهُم بِلا شَك

    كٍ فَلِلعودِ قُتارُ

  9. وَلِصَفوِ الماءِ أَقذا

    ءٌ وَلِلخَمرِ خُمارُ
