1. وَثِقَت بِالمَلِكِ الوا

    ثِقِ بِاللَهِ النُفوسُ

    They put their trust in an earthly king

    While souls put all their trust in God

  2. مَلِكٌ يَشقى بِهِ الما

    لُ وَلا يَشقى الجَليسُ

    A king whose rule brings wealth to naught

    Yet leaves the wise man un distressed

  3. مَلِكٌ تَفزَعُ مِن صَو

    لَتِهِ الحَربُ الضَروسُ

    A king whose awesome threats of war

    Strike terror in the bravest breasts

  4. أَنِسَ السَيفُ بِهِ وَاِس

    تَوحَشَ العِلقُ النَفيسُ

    The sword is his companion while

    The noble shun him in disgust

  5. يا بَني العَبّاس يَأبى ال

    لَهُ إِلّا أَن تَسوسوا

    O Abbasid race, God wills it not

    That you should endlessly rule us

  6. لَكُمُ المُلكُ عَلَينا

    آخِرَ الدَهرِ حَبيسُ

    To you through all eternity

    The kingdom shall a captive be
