قد قال للشّرفي جامعنا اتئّد

لا تطلبنّ خطابتي بتجبّر

Our preacher said to Al-Sharifi: Restrain yourself,

Do not force me into speeches arrogantly,

فأنا بريء منكم أبدا على

أمد الزّمان فكيف تطلبُ منبري

I am forever innocent of you all

Throughout time, so how can you demand my pulpit?
