The branch withers from the glances of your eyes

And the sun is ashamed before the radiance of your cheeks

However much your lips pretend, pearls

Become worthless and degraded beside them

When you are silent, all poets are muted

When you sing, all gazelles are enchanted

If your saliva were made public, it would make

    All minds intoxicated and enthralled

If the blackness of your hair were used as ink

The dye of night would never be extracted

Or don't you see that the night of lovers with its dye

Does not change from the state of that dye

Your waist, if revealed from its clothes

The crescent moon would never again be full

Or it was never revealed, so it remains

    Dissolving from that revealing

The glances of your eyes, if cast in disdain

Would kill the lover with a mortal blow

Oh you who in intense passion made me shed tears

While patience remains chained in the prison of rejection

I have forbidden my eyes from beholding him

And left them for the wakeful to draw from

I have left my body as a dwelling for illnesses

And carried above my heart that which cannot be borne

I return wakefulness to my eyelids

Perhaps in the image of your phantom it will be wrapped

Oh you who blame his passion without knowing

That advice to the passionately in love is never accepted

If blindness to your beauty has befallen me, say

The doors of hearing for you are closed

How can I abstain from life and his love

When his love is more delicious to me than life itself

    The censured, love-sick, self-blaming

His brow is crowned with the crown of beauty

A moon wandering astray in his beauty

Lording over kings with his clothes
