يا ويح أهل صفاقس عزلوا

إمامهم ورموهُ بالخبثِ

O woe to the people of Sfax who abandoned

Their imam and accused him of evil

وقدُّموا لصلاتهم حدثا

وهل تجوز الصّلاة بالحدثِ

And brought to their prayers one unclean

Can prayers be held in a state of impurity?
