يا ايها العلمُ الهمامُ ومن لهُ

فيما يروم إلى العلاء طريقُ

O you the high-aspiring science, and he who

Seeks the path to supreme glory,

قاضي صفاقُس ليس يصلحُ للقضا

يوما وليس لهُ القضاءُ يليقُ

The judge of Safaqis is not fit to judge

A single day, nor is judging seemly for him.

علّقهُ عن عمل القضاء فإنّما

هُو لؤلؤ من شأنه التّعليقُ

Suspend him from the function of judge, for

He is a pearl whose nature is to be suspended.
