May God cloud the life of him who clouded life,
God has soured the life of he who soured life
For it had been clear and delightful.
It was once so sweet and pure
He came to us while the sky poured down rain,
He came while the sky poured down intense rain
And music was in harmony with the wine.
And hearing matched drinking
He shattered the cup, which was like a radiant star;
He broke the goblet which was like a shining star
It held the sweet nectar of wine.
It held the wine's pleasure
I said, when he struck me with what I detest—
When he cast me away with what he disliked
And Time strikes down whatever it bestows—
And fate brought no gain or loss
May God hasten retribution upon Ibn Harb
May God hasten vengeance on Ibn Harb's son
That leaves the house in ruins after a month.
Who left the house in ruins after a month
