    ولا على العبد عند الحرب معتمد

    A slave has nothing for one who hopes in him to count on

    Nor in battle can one depend upon a slave

  3. فاجعل عبيدك أوتادا مشججة

    لا يثبت البيت حتى يقرع الوتد

    So make your slaves like firmly planted tent pegs

    No house stands firm unless the peg is driven
