  1. لَم يُغَرَّر بِذاتِ خُفٍّ سِوانا

    بَعدَ أُختِ العِبادِ أُمِّ حُنَينِ

    He was not deceived by the charm of a soft-footed beauty

    After the sister of the devout, mother of Hunayn.

  2. وَعَدَتنا بِدِرهَمَينِ نَبيذاً

    أَو طِلاءً مُعَجَّلاً غَيرَ دَينِ

    She promised us for two dirhams some wine

    Or a hasty covering, other than religion.

  3. ثُمَّ أَلوَت بِالدِرهَمَينِ جَميعاً

    يا لَقَومي لِضَيعَةِ الدِرهَمَينِ

    Then she squandered both dirhams altogether.
