سَطْوَةُ الحبيبِ
أحلى مِنْ جَنى النّحْلِ
The authority of the beloved
Is sweeter than the honey of bees
وعلى اللبيبِ
أن يخضعَ للذلِّ
And it is upon the wise
To submit to humiliation
أنا في حروبِ
مع الأعين النُّجلِ
I am at war
With the beautiful eyes
ليس لي يدانِ
بأحورَ فتَّانِ
I have no hands
For the alluring charmer
من رأى جفونَه
فقد أفْسَدَتْ دينَهْ
Whoever saw his eyelids
Has corrupted his faith
يَنْبَغي التجّني
لمثلكَ في الأنْسِ
It is proper to avoid
The like of you in intimacy
لو قبلتَ منّي
لتهتُ على الشمسِ
If I kissed you
I would be lost in the sun
يا مُنَى التمنّي
هلمَّ إلى الأنْس
O object of wishing
Come to intimacy
أنتَ مهرجاني
وَخدُّكَ بُسْتاني
You are my celebration
And your cheek my garden
غَطِّ ياسمِينَهْ
إنَّ الناسَ يجنونَه
Cover, o jasmine
People are picking you
خلِّ كلَّ مَيْنِ
أَتى الحقُّ منقادا
Leave every bend
Truth has come tamed
من رأى بعينِ
في ذا الخلقِ مَنْ سادا
Whoever saw with an eye
In creation one who excelled
كأبي الحسين
ويفديه إن جادا
Like Abu Al-Hussein
And ransoms him if he is generous
كلُّ ذي امتنانِ
لا بلْ كلُّ هتّانِ
Everyone with a blessing
No, but every infatuated one
رامَ أنْ يكونَهْ
جوداً فأنى دونَهْ
Wanted to make it
Generosity, but fell short of it
خَطّطَ الوزيرُ
بخطَّةِ إيثارِ
The minister planned
A plan of preference
فانتهى السُّرورُ
إلى غيرِ مقدارِ
So joy reached
Beyond limit
رُدَّتِ الأمورُ
إلى أسدٍ ضارِ
Affairs returned
To a harmful lion
ثابتِ الجنانِ
صفوحٍ عن الجاني
Firm of soul
Forgiving of the sinner
قد حَمَى عرينَهْ
بالزُّرْقِ المسنونَه
He protected his lair
With acquired spears
أظْهَرَ المُقامُ
في الغربةِ حرْمانا
The position revealed
Deprivation in estrangement
فأنا أُلامُ
إسراراً وإعلانا
So I blame
Secretly and openly
قلتُ والكلامُ
يَصرُحُ أحياناً
I said and speech
Sometimes declares openly
فزتُ بالأماني
لو كان من إخواني
So I won wishes
If only he were of my brothers
صاحبُ المدينة
أعلى الله تَمكينَهْ
The owner of the city
May God elevate his empowerment
