We clung to the trunk that stretched its
Boughs while the clouds spread their floral rug,
Around a pool whose water complained to
The slender waists of the Pleiades.
Had the wind sought refuge in its poison,
It would have reverted, being the morning breeze.
Its pebbles are pearls and its gravel
Is chamomile flowers around the gems.
The wind wove it a coat of her own weaving
To meet the arrows of rain.
The sun dressed it in her own light
To seize the sight’s light.
It is like a polished mirror
On a green carpet that is unrolled.
