Trees of yellow roses awoke
Joy in every lover's heart
They bore necklaces of emeralds
Their hollows filled with glittering jewels
When the morning breeze stirred their banners
Enchantingly, and the boughs swayed intoxicated
I pictured them as a necklace cast off
Its robes of flame in the greenery
The rain cloud poured its turbid tears for them
Dyeing them in wondrous hues
Who has seen before trees
Watered with mud, yet yielding gold?
