المبدأ الأول في

علوما فرد أحد

The first principle in

our sciences is that the individual

وحدته في نوعه

وهو كثير في العدد

is unique in his kind

yet manifold in number

واثنان في حكمتنا

أب قديم وولد

and two in our wisdom

an ancient Father and a Son

تتلوهما ثلاثة

نفس وروح وجسد

followed by three

spirit, soul and body

وأربع أركاننا

قد زال عنهن الحسد

And four pillars of ours

free from envy

ألّف منها واحد

فدام فينا وخلد

United as one

to last in us and endure

فجدّ في استخراجك ال

رمز فمن جدّ وجد

So strive in extracting

no symbol, for he who strives finds
