    منها فما أحتاجُ أنْ أتعلَّمَا

    As for the sciences, I have attained my desire;

From them, I have no need to learn anything more.

I have come to know all the secrets of creation,

A knowledge that lit for me the pitch-black dark.

And I inherited from Hermes the secret of his wisdom, which

Has long remained mere conjecture, guessed at among mysteries.

Through discernment I gained the key to treasures,

Which unveiled for me the hidden, baffling secret.

Were it not for prudent concealment, I would reveal a miracle

Of my wisdom, one that heals hearts of blindness.

I yearn to act generously and openly display what

I have been taught, while reason forbids me both.

And I wish never to encounter a prosperous fool

Anywhere in the worlds, nor a wise man destitute.

Yet people are either ignorant or unjust—

How, then, can I manage generosity and speaking out?
