1. إن أخذنا الكبريت ثم خلطنا

    جسداً ميتاً به وسقينا

    If we took sulfur and mixed

    A dead body with it and watered

  2. ومزجناهما بصبر ورفق

    وقررنا بذلك الرفق علينا

    And blended them with patience and care

    And decided with that care upon us

  3. وانغماس الكبريت في الجسد

    الأبيض من أصعب الأمور علينا

    And the immersion of sulfur in the body

    The white is the most difficult thing for us

  4. جسد راسب وروح لطيف

    خلق النفس منهما بين بينا

    A settled body and a gentle soul

    Creation of the soul between the two

  5. ودعوا ما قد طار منه نضاراً

    والذي قَرَّ في الإناء لجينا

    And leave what has faded from it youthfully

    And that which settled in the vessel we kneaded

  6. فأصاب الكبريت من وهج النا

    ر فرام الفرار فيما رأينا

    So sulfur got from the blaze of fire a fleeting escape in what we saw

    So its whiteness prevented it from fleeing as

  7. فأَبضته عن الاباق جسوم

    صار في جوفهن لما التقينا

    It became inside them when we met

    And the souls were incarnated in the thickness of the

  8. واستجنَّ الأرواح في غلظ الاج

    ساد من حرها اتقينا

    Bodies from their heat we feared

    And we insisted on repeating dissolution and knot

  9. ولزمنا التكرار حلاً وعقداً

    فبلغنا من أمرنا ما اشتهينا

    Until we reached what we desired from our matter
