ولقد تَشَاكينَا على عَجَلٍ
بالسَّفْحِ والعَبراتُ تَنْسَفِحُ
We have complained hastily
On the hillside, and tears gush forth.
فَلَوَ اَنَّ شكوانا هناك بدتْ
لرأيتَ منها النارَ تنقدحُ
If our lament appeared there,
You would see fire burst from it.
ما لي وللعُذَّالِ ليتَهُمُ
ماتوا بغيظهمُ إِذا نصحُوا
What business have I with the blamers? If only
They died from their rage when they give advice!
قالوا افتضحتَ وليتهمْ صدقُوا
من لي بأني فيكَ أفتضِحُ
They say, “You have disgraced yourself.” If only they were truthful!
Who can help me with the fact that I disgrace myself over you?
