تجربة المرء عن يقين

عون على أمره كبيرُ

A man's experience of certainty

Is great help for his matter

ومن يجرّب بغير علم

ولا نصيح له مشيرُ

And he who experiments without knowledge

Has no adviser to guide him

فقد غدا في الطريق يمشي

لا هو أعمى ولا بصير

So he walks blindly on the path

Neither blind nor seeing

فأحكمِ العلم ثم جرّب

فإنما يفلح الخبيرُ

Master knowledge, then experiment

For only the expert succeeds

فظاهر الكتب ليس فيه

نفع وتضليله كثيرُ

What's apparent in books is of no benefit

And leads to much misguidance

والحجر الأصل والأداة ال

فرع وتدبيره يسيرُ

The essence is the rock and the tool

Secondary, arranging it is easy

وحكمة هذا الستار سر

وأمر ميزانه عسيرُ

The wisdom of this veil is a secret

And comprehending its balance is difficult

فاصبر إذا ما طلبت واصبر

فإنه المطلب الخطيرُ

So be patient if you seek, be patient

For that is the grave quest

واسترزق الله بابتهال

فإنه الواحد القديرُ

And pray to God for sustenance

For He is the One Able
