I encamped at the top of a ravine, while al-Farazdaq
was at its bottom, where its runoff settles.
Tamim’s upper branch never grew numerous enough to be feared,
nor were the few of Tamim’s lower branch any good.
In neither Najd nor the sands of ʿĀlij have you
an oryx’s noonday resting-place—then look what her resting-place is.
The passage of urine from a squat, thickset man’s belly has already been blocked
by a crooked female whom you give drink whenever her penile sheath slips awry.
