أقولُ والقلبُ منِّي في تلفُّتِهِ

يا بدرُ يا غائباً في أُفقِ مغربِهِ

I say, while my heart in its wandering

O full moon that has set below the horizon

نَذَرتُ لله صوماً إن رجعتُ وما

كفَّارةُ النَّذْرِ إلا بالوفاءِ بهِ

I have vowed to God a fast if you return, and

No expiation of a vow but in fulfilling it
