نسيمُ الصَّبا وبشيرُ المطرْ
ورَيَّا الرياحينِ حينَ السَّحَرْ
The morning breeze and the rain's harbinger
And the scented winds at dawn's first light
وسجعُ الحمائِمُ فوق الغصون
يجاوبهنَّ لسانُ الوتَرْ
And the cooing of doves above the branches
Answered by the lute's voice
ولفظُ العميدِ ابنِ مشكانَ في
ترسُّلِهِ مرسلاً للغُرَرْ
And the words of the eminent Ibn Mashkan in
His eloquence, releasing pearls
يذكِّرُني طيب عيشٍ صفا
من الهمِّ قبلَ اعتراضِ الكَدَرْ
Remind me of a good and pure life
Free of worries before being afflicted by distress
