عركتني الأيامُ عَرْكَ الأديمِ
وتجاوَزْنَ بي مدى التقويم
The days have worn me out like worn leather
And surpassed me beyond time's domain
وغضَضْنَ اللحاظَ منِّيَ إلاّ
عن هلال يرنو بمقلةِ ريمِ
Lowering their gazes from me except
For a crescent moon glancing with the eye of a white antelope
لحظُهُ سُقْمُ كلِّ قلبٍ صحيحٍ
ثغرُهُ بردُ كلِّ جسمٍ سقيمِ
Its glance is the sickness of every heart that's whole
Its mouth the coolness of every ailing body
