O guide of the generous gaze, as if
They shod him with the four winds.
Like a swift, well-trained steed, or like pouring rain,
Or like a darting arrow let loose.
Nothing is swifter than him except my thoughts
In gratitude for your great, exalted gift.
If I were just in praising his majesty,
For the majesty of his noble, splendid guide,
I would pledge the love of my heart for his love,
And make his tether the darkness of my tears.
Without hesitation I would give and cut
The cloak of my youth for his glory and veil.
