إذا قيل من فرد العلى والمحامد

أجاب لسان الدهر ذاك ابن حامد

If it is said who alone has ascended the heights and glories

The tongue of time would answer, that is the son of Hamid

همام له في مرتقى الدهر مصعد

يلوح له العيوق في ثوب حاسد

Hammam has a ladder to the summits of time

Envious eyes glare at him in the garb of an envier

كريم حباه المشتري بسعوده

وأصبح في الآداب بكر عطارد

Generous, graced by the Buyer with his bounty

And in knowledge he rose like the morning star Mercury

به سحبت خوارزم ذيل مفاخر

على خطة الشعرى وربع الفراقد

By him Khwarazm dragged the train of its glories

Over the celestial sphere and the zodiac

فلا زال في ظل السعادة ناعماً

يحوز جميع الفضل في شخص واحد

So he remained in the shade of fortune gentle

Embodying all merit in a single being
