لي سيِّدٌ مَلِكٌ غَدا

في بردَتَيْ مَلِكٍ وَهُوبِ

I have a lord, a king, tomorrow

In the garments of a generous king

لا بالجهولِ ولا المَلُو

لِ ولا القَطُوبِ ولا الغَضُوبِ

Not with ignorance or wealth

Nor with stinginess or anger

قد جادَ لي بأَغَرَّ أُن

عِلَ بالشَّمالِ وبالجَنوبِ

He has bestowed upon me the most precious gift

Known in the north and in the south

لا بالشَّمُوسِ ولا العمو

صِ ولا القَطوفِ ولا الشبوبِ

Neither with suns nor hopes

Nor with harvests or youth
