Long may you live, builder of glory, O Abū ʿUmar,
amid prosperity never surrendered to fortune’s changes.
You lavished kindness upon me until its place
within my heart came to equal hearing and sight.
Rightly do I love the one in whom I found such blessings—
with him lies the finest I have encountered in my life.
I never praised Fate until I came to know
him—and, by my life, he is my desire’s furthest reach.
From his generosity I have stored away for myself,
through companionship and loyalty, the finest treasure.
Whenever a difficult need arose for me,
I remembered him, and victory’s bright brow appeared.
Nothing dispels any calamity from me
except the answer to my cry: “O Abū ʿUmar!”
