1. أَسْعٍدْ بيُمنٍ وإقبالٍ أَبا عُمرٍ

    وعشتَ وابنك عيشاً دآئمَ العُمُرِ

    I congratulate Abu Omar in good fortune and prosperity,

    And may you and your son live a long life,

  2. ومرحباً بكُما من سيدين غدَت

    بُشرا كما فرحاً في البدو والحضرِ

    Welcome to you both, O two masters who have become

    Good news of joy in the desert and the city,

  3. يا أرضَ نَزْوى تباهي واكتسي زهراً

    فأنتِ بين الفُراتِ العذبِ والمطرِ

    O land of Nuza, boast and dress in flowers,

    For you are between the sweet Euphrates and the rain,

  4. وياسماءَ المعالي أشرقي فلقد

    أضاء جوُّك بين الشمس والقمرِ

    And O exalted sky, shine brightly, for

    Your atmosphere was illuminated between the sun and the moon,

  5. قد اصبحت بهما في بهجةٍ سَمَدٌ

    عَذراءَ تختالل بين الوشي والحِبَرِ

    Now with them you have become joyful forever,

    A virgin strolling between freckles and ink,

  6. كالرّوضة الأُ نفَ اعتادَت بها نفساً

    ريحُ الصّبا وغدتها رقة السَّحَرِ

    Like a garden that has gotten used to it

    The breeze of morning and it became the softness of dawn,

  7. حاك الرّبيعُ لها وَشياً وصاغ لها

    منه قلائدَ من نور ومن زهرِ

    Spring has woven for it a cloak and made for it

    Necklaces of light and flowers,

  8. بوركت من صادر عن بيت خالقهِ

    قاضٍ مناسِكَهُ بوركتَ من صَدَرٍ

    Blessed are you from the source of your Creator

    Who performs his rituals, blessed are you from the chest

  9. الآن أعظمتُ فيما دون منطقهِ

    ووجههِ حقَّ فضل السّمع والبصرِ

    Now I praise you beyond your range

    And your true face, the preference of hearing and sight,

  10. شفى غرامي إصغائي إلى كَلمٍ

    منه وامتعي من حسنهِ نظري

    My love's cure was me listening to his words

    And enjoying the beauty of his sight,

  11. إني أَراك لمن لم يستطع سُبلا

    للحجّ أَفضلَ محْجوج ومُعْتَمَرِ

    I see you to one who could not find ways

    To Hajj, the best substitute for a visitor and pilgrim,

  12. إذا رآى بركاتٍ فيكَ بيّنة

    بحسن ما فيك من سيما ومن نظرِ

    When he sees clear blessings in you

    In the beauty of your traits and sight,

  13. مقدِّرا فيكَ بيتَ الله مستَلماً

    عِطفيك مثل استلام الركن والحجرِ

    Appreciating in you Allah's house, touching

    Your sides like touching the corner and the rock,

  14. يا فائقاً بصفات الفَضْل ليس لهُ

    شبه تبارك من سوّاك من بَشَرِ

    O surpassing in the traits of virtue, no one

    Resembles you, blessed is He who created you from humans,

  15. ليهنك الولدُ الميمون إنَّ له

    عليك لله صُنعاً غيرَ مُستتَرِ

    May this auspicious son delight you, he indeed

    Has a sign from Allah upon you that is not hidden,

  16. ضاحي المحيّا كريم الخِيم احبسه

    مجدُ العتيك محلّ الأنجم الزَّهرِ

    O the morning’s radiance, the generous tent, detain him

    The glory of your family, the place of brilliant stars,

  17. يسمو بمجد بني نبهان في يمنٍ

    وينتى بزياد في عُلَى مضرِ

    He rises with the glory of Bani Nubhan in Yemen

    And is associated with Ziyad in the heights of Mudhar,

  18. ذو همّة وعزيماتٍ يمانيةٍ

    إلى صلابة عُود غيرِ ذي خَورِ

    With ambition and Yemeni determination

    To the firmness of unbending wood,

  19. جشَّمته مطلباً ضاهيَ إرادتهُ

    فرامَه بعزيز النّفس مُصطبرِ

    His aspirations have made him determined

    So he attained the difficult with a patient self,

  20. أَخلاق سادات نبهان بها ملكوا

    إرْثَ المنابر والتيجانِ والسُّرُرِ

    The morals of the masters of Nubhan, with it they ruled

    The inheritance of pulpits, crowns and thrones,

  21. ارتهمُ في عيون الخَلق انفسُهم

    أن الخطير إلى العلياء في خطرِ

    In people's eyes they themselves were

    That adversity to the exalted is dangerous,

  22. مُشمِّرون لإدارك المَكارِم لا

    يَرضَون عن هرمَ عجز ولا صِغرِ

    Prepared to attain all virtues, not accepting

    Decline or smallness,

  23. صِيدٌ يمانونَ أَزديَّون كلّهم

    بدور علياءَ وَهَّابون للبدرِ

    They are prey, Yemenis and Azdites, all of them

    Revolving around exalted and dignified full moons,

  24. هُم الملوك سكنَّا في جوارهِهُم

    ظلّ الغنا وَجنينا يانعَ الثمرِ

    They are the kings, we dwelled in their neighborhood

    In the shade of glory, and picked ripe fruits,

  25. فَعدّهم في الأنام النّاسُ وحدهمُ

    وعدّ عمّا ترى من سائر الصُّوَرِ

    So people counted them alone among the people

    And didn’t count what you see from the rest of forms,

  26. ألقى أبو عمَر السّامي ومدّ أبو

    عبدِ الإله علينا حُلّةَ الحِبَرِ

    Abu Omar the sublime threw upon us a robe

    And Abu Abdillah spread upon us the garb of ink,

  27. فما اعتياديَ من شكوى الزَّمان وقد

    قَضى لديهم بإدراك المنى وطَري

    So I am not accustomed to complaining about time, as

    With them I attained what I hope for and desire,

  28. بسيدي قد أتاح الله لي فرجاً

    من فرحة هيّجَت شوقي ومُدّكَري

    My master, Allah has eased for me some relief

    From a joy that stirred my passion and memories,

  29. جاهدتُ صَرف زماني في مَغيبهما

    حَولاً وهذا أَوان النّصر والظَّفَرِ

    I struggled to spend my time in their absence

    Years, and now is the time of triumph and victory,

  30. كم نكبةٍ قد أَصابتني فهوّنها

    ترقّبي لك عن قرب ومُنتظَري

    How many catastrophes have befallen me, which he made easy

    My anticipation of you closely and awaited,

  31. لولا مكانُك في الدنيا لقد أسفت

    نفسي على قرب ما أزدادُ في عُمْري

    If not for your status in life, I would have regretted

    Myself for the nearness of what I gain in age,

  32. وقد تغرّبتُ حولاً بعد سيرك في

    إقامتي فأنا الآتي من السّفَرِ

    And I became a foreigner for a year after your travel in

    My stay, so here I am, the coming one from travel,

  33. شكري لربٍّ قضى لي في سلامتكم

    أُمنيّتي وكفاني فيكم حَذَري

    My thanks to a Lord who ordained for me in your safety

    My wish, and sufficed me in you from caution,

  34. هذا ودونك بكراً بنتَ ساعتها

    عجّلتُها فأَتت في زيِّ مُعتذرِ

    This is in your presence some poetry whose time

    I hastened, so it came in the guise of one who apologizes
