1. The world adorned itself, and its joy came

    through Dhuhl; and Dhuhl is its eye and its lamp.

  2. The signet of Omani kingship was handed over

    to him, with the diadem of lofty honors and their crown.

  3. And if Qahtan vies in glory, his excellence provides

    her proof and argument in support of her pride.

  4. His virtues are mingled with generosity, as though they were

    aged wine, whose blend is water from the clouds.

  5. Through him distress is dispelled and wealth is sought

    when the world turns hostile and its broad paths narrow.

  6. To his door the delegations journey and set their course,

    and toward his shelter they incline and turn.

  7. Thus they find safety, and their poor grow rich,

    their affliction is lifted, and their needs are fulfilled.

  8. Abu Hasan, may you live long, O Dhuhl! It is hoped

    that your auspiciousness will bring relief from the anguish of time.

  9. And the affairs of your time submitted willingly to you

    in the finest state, and their crookedness became straight.
