1. Among oath-breakers and unjust men, the splendid one,

    Around al-Amin, and he said: 'Bring it, so they may hear.'

  2. Rise, O son of Madhʿur, then recite. Bow your heads,

    With necks bowed and a gaze that is not raised.

  3. Were it not for fear of Abu Bujayr, they would have revealed

    Their hatred, scattered, and split apart.

  4. Do not despair: we have endured, so endure,

    Seventy years, while noses were being cut off.

  5. Then, every Friday, there still rises

    From among you an eloquent orator against our companion,

  6. Rushing headlong in his error, unrelenting

    In abuse—liken him to horses—as he speaks in rhyme,

  7. To please a creature and anger the Creator.

    Indeed, the wretched man is obsessed with every evil.
