I pass by Hussein's tomb
And say to his most fragrant bones
O most fragrant one, you still are
Pouring profuse, streaming tears
No life is sweet after your loss
With horses charging chaotically
A grave containing a sweet musk
Whose fathers are the best of creation
His fathers, people of leadership
Of caliphate and trusteeship
Of virtue and praised temper
Of pleasing, acceptable traits
So if you pass by his tomb
Then descend and stop the riding beast
And cry for the pure one, the pure
And the most immaculate, most fragrant
Like the crying of a wailing woman
Bereft one day of her beloved
And curse the memory of Umar Bin Sa’d
And his army armed with spears
And Shamir Bin Jawshan who
Was destroyed by his wretched soul
They made the son of their prophet’s daughter
A target, as pearls are thrown
Nothing led them to fight him
Except greed and desire for money
When they called him to come
To be judged by the sons of treason
The sons of the most despicable villain
And the most despicable of them, Sajjah
But he disobeyed them and his
Honored, dignified soul refused
So they attacked him with their swords
Their armor and fine Yemeni clothes
And white swords and Yemeni blades
Their tall Median horses
While they were thousands and he had
Only seventy Hāshimī men
So they confronted him in the rear
Coming from behind the dunes
Certain that they were being led
To the causes of prosperity
Oh eye, cry for as long as
You live for people of integrity
No excuse to refrain from crying
Blood, while you are free
