  1. لّما أتى بالخبرِ الأَنْبَلِ

    في طائرٍ أُهدي إلى المُرْسَلِ

    When he brought the news in the noble bird

    Sent to the messenger

  2. في خبرٍ جاء أَبانٌ بهِ

    عن أنس في الزمنِ الأوّلِ

    In news that came, Aban told it

    About Anas in the first era

  3. هذا وقيسُ الحَبرُ يَرويه عن

    سُفينةٍ ذي القُلَّبِ الحُوَّلِ

    And this, while Qais recites it from

    A ship with a shifting helm

  4. سفينةٌ يمكن من رُشدِه

    وأنَسٌ خانَ ولم يَعْدِلِ

    A ship made possible by its righteousness

    While Anas betrayed and did not act justly

  5. في ردّهِ سيّدِ كلِّ الوَرى

    مولاهمْ في المحكمِ المُنْزلِ

    In his response to the master of all people

    Their protector in the revealed decree

  6. فصدَّه ذو العرشِ عن رُشدِهِ

    وشانه بالبَرَصِ الأنْكَلِ

    So the Lord of the Throne turned him from his righteousness

    And afflicted him with leprous spots
