1. ألا أيّها اللاَّحي عَليّاً دعِ الخِنا

    فما أنتَ من تأنيبِه بِمَصُوَّبِ

    O you who blames Ali, leave off your slander

    For you cannot fault him, however you try

  2. أتَلْحى وليَّ اللهِ بعد أَمينِهِ

    وصاحبَ حوضٍ شُربُه خيرُ مَشْرَبِ

    Would you blame the friend of God after his trustee

    And the owner of a pool whose drink is the best drink

  3. وحافاتُه دُرُّ ومِسكٌ تُرابُه

    وقد حازَ ماءً من لُجينٍ مُذَهَّبِ

    With banks of pearls and musk, its soil is ambergris

    He attained water from Lujain gilded and embellished

  4. متى ما يُرِدْ مولاهُ يَشربْ وإن يُرِدْ

    عدُوٌّ له يَرجعْ بِخِزيٍ ويُضْربِ

    Whenever his Master wills he may drink, but if an enemy wishes

    He will return in disgrace, driven away and struck
