1. Whose deserted dwelling, like a tattoo, remains silent?

A trench and traces remain, like the markings of an obscure script.

  2. Listen, you captive of passion, who never shrinks

From hurting or reproaching me over Ali:

  3. You will hear from me a declaration about Ali

That will displease you; hang back for it or come forward.

  4. Ali has my support against those

Among the people who fault him, with my hands and my mouth.

But do not approach any of my followers and wrong them.’

  12. Tomorrow Ali will be summoned, and his Lord will clothe him

And truly draw him near to an honored companion.

  13. If you will resent him when that day brings him near,

Though you show approval of him now, then nurse your resentment.

  14. For you will meet him standing beside the Pool

With the Chosen One, the guiding and revered Prophet.

Into comfort and deep, sheltering shade.

No enemy of his without a mark upon the nose.

  39. Whenever anyone who does not love him sees it,

Whether human or one of the mighty jinn, he will be marked upon the nose.
