كان الوصيُّ وكانت ابنةُ أحمدٍ

كان الوصيُّ وكانت ابنةُ أحمدٍ

خيرَ البريّةُ كلِّها وابناهُما

خيرَ البريّةُ كلِّها وابناهُما

The appointed successor and Ahmad's daughter were

The guardian was, and Ahmed's daughter was,

the best of all creation; and their two sons were

The best of all creation, they and their two sons,

سِبطان باركَ ذو المعارجِ فيهِما

سِبطان باركَ ذو المعارجِ فيهِما

وحبَاهما وهَداهما بِهُداهُما

وحبَاهما وهَداهما بِهُداهُما

two grandsons whom the Lord of the Ascents blessed.

Two noble youths, blessed by the Lord of the Ladders,

And He favored them both and guided them by their guidance.

Whom He granted and guided with His guidance,

فَرعانٍ قد غُرسا بأكرمِ مَغْرَسٍ

فَرعانٍ قد غُرسا بأكرمِ مَغْرَسٍ

طابت فُروعهما وطابَ ثَراهُما

طابت فُروعهما وطابَ ثَراهُما

Two branches planted in the noblest planting ground:

Planted in the most generous planting ground.

their branches were wholesome, and wholesome was their soil.

Their branches thrived and their roots were wholesome,

إحداهُما نَمَّتْ عليه حَديثَه

إحداهُما نَمَّتْ عليه حَديثَه

وبغتْ عليه نفسَه إحداهُما

وبغتْ عليه نفسَه إحداهُما

One of the two divulged his words against him,

On one the talk grew and her soul took him unawares,

and one of the two sought his life.

They're the two I heard the Lord of Muhammad

فهما اللتان سمعتُ ربَّ محمدٍ

فهما اللتان سمعتُ ربَّ محمدٍ

في الذكرِ قصَّ على العبادِ نَباهما

في الذكرِ قصَّ على العبادِ نَباهما

For they are the two of whom I heard Muhammad's Lord
