وهو الذي يَسمُ الوجوهَ بِميسم

وهو الذي يَسمُ الوجوهَ بِميسم

حتى يُلاقي خَصمَهُ مَوسوما

حتى يُلاقي خَصمَهُ مَوسوما

And he is the one who brands faces with a branding iron,

He is the one who marks the faces with his brand

so that he meets his branded adversary.

Until he meets his opponent marked

ما زالَ مذ سلكَ السبيلَ محمدٌ

ما زالَ مذ سلكَ السبيلَ محمدٌ

ومضى لغيرِ مَذلّةٍ مَظلوما

ومضى لغيرِ مَذلّةٍ مَظلوما

He has remained—ever since Muhammad took the path

Since Muhammad tread the path

and passed on without abasement—wronged.

And passed without being unjustly wronged

ضامَته أُمَته وضيمُهمُ له

ضامَته أُمَته وضيمُهمُ له

قد كان أصغر ما يكونُ عَظيما

قد كان أصغر ما يكونُ عَظيما

His community oppressed him, and their oppression of him

His nation betrayed him though their wrong was small

was grievous even at its slightest.

To one so great
